1.OFFICIAL SAY USA SOCCER RULES APPLY TO ALL GAMES:

For all tournament games, the official rules of SAY soccer apply as in regular season play.

2.TOURNAMENT GAME TIMES/FORMATS:

The game schedules have been streamlined to get all the games in in a timely manner.

Games will run as follows:

  • 8U- 4 x 10 minute quarters (teams change sides at half)
  • 10U- 2 X 24 minute halves (teams change sides at half)

3.ROSTER CHECKS:

Roster checks will be undertaken before every game during the tournament. Please expect it and please come prepared with a your official CHSS roster. An electronic copy will be accepted but printed is preferred for simplicity sake, especially if it is raining. As was the policy during the season, the lack of an official roster and/or the presence of un-rostered players will result in a forfeit.

4.TIE BREAKERS:

a) OVERTIME PERIODS:

Preliminary Games: If the score of a Match is tied after regulation play in preliminary games (including semi-finals), there will be a SINGLE sudden victory overtime period (“golden goal”). Whichever team scores first, wins the game.

  • 10 minutes for 8U
  • 12 minutes for 10U
  • 15 minutes for 12U

This period will be played WITH a goalkeeper. The team kicking off in the sudden victory period shall be the same as in the first half. - i.e: there will not be a second coin toss.

Finals: For all final games, there will be NO sudden victory overtime period. The overtime period must be played in full until completion. 10 minutes for 8U, 12 minutes for 10U, 15 minutes for 12U.

b) KICKS FROM THE PENALTY MARK:

If still tied after the sudden victory period (preliminary games) or the overtime period to be played in full (Finals only), the winner of the match will be determined by Kicks from the Penalty Mark.

Each team will prepare a written kicking order for all kicking players.11 vs.11 teams will list only 10 players, 9 vs. 9 teams will list only 8 players, 8 vs. 8 teams will list only 7 players, and 7 vs. 7 teams will list only 6 players. In the event that a team, either through injury, ejections or other cause has fewer players, the opposing team will “reduce to equate.”

Kicks will alternate between each team’s players in the order listed. The total score after alternating kicks by the first five players from each team will decide the victor. If still tied after five kicks by each team, Kicks from the Penalty Mark will continue until one-team scores and the other does not.

NOTE: The 8Udivision will not use a goalkeeper in the Kicks from the Penalty Mark tiebreaker. The Penalty Spot shall be marked 8 Yards from, and centered upon, a smaller, 6’ wide by 4’ high, goal which will be provided.  Pop-up goals may be used. Only balls kicked into the smaller goal will score.

5.UNIFORM COLOR CONFLICTS:

The Home Team (the team shown in the top bracket) is responsible to change Jerseys or to wear a different color training vest if there is a color conflict. BE PREPARED

6.EJECTIONS:

Any player, substitute or coach ejected from a game may not participate in any capacity at the Team’s next Tournament Game. Ejection reports will be forwarded to Tournament Director, CHSS President [email protected]

7.PROTESTS:

There are no protests. Any concerns should be directed to the field marshals.

8.GENERAL:

The Tournament Committee's interpretation of the foregoing rules and all unanticipated situations shall be final. The Tournament Committee also reserves the right to shorten games in the event of limited playing time due to inclement weather
